Buganda Kingdom Unveils 2026/27 Budget, Closes 2025/26 Financial Year

The Buganda Kingdom has officially closed its 2025/26 financial year and unveiled its 2026/27 budget during a ceremony at the Lukiko Hall in Mengo.

The event was presided over by the Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, and attended by Kingdom ministers, clan leaders, county chiefs, and other officials. Also present was the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi, alongside other invited guests.

The budget was presented by the Kingdom’s Minister for Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa. The presentation highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to accountability, sustainable development, and improving the welfare of its people.

The ceremony marked the beginning of a new financial year, with Kingdom leaders calling for unity and continued support in advancing Buganda’s development and preserving its cultural heritage.
