The Buganda Kingdom has unveiled a Shs409.315 billion budget for the 2026/27 financial year, an increase from last year’s Shs320.508 billion.

The budget was presented at the Lukiiiko Hall at Balenga in Mengo by the Kingdom’s Treasurer, Minister for Finance, Planning and Economic Development, and Second Deputy Katikkiro, Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa. The ceremony was presided over by Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga and attended religious leaders Archbisop of Kampala Paul Ssemogerere , the supreme Mufti Muhammad ,Kingdom ministers, clan leaders, county chiefs, the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi, and other invited guests.

This year’s budget is guided by the theme, “Raising Standards, Enhancing Quality and Professionalism in the Efforts to Restore Buganda to Greater Heights.”
While presenting the budget, Owek. Nsibirwa said the Kingdom would prioritize investment in agriculture, tourism, healthcare, education, and decent housing to improve people’s livelihoods and drive socio-economic transformation.

He also expressed they gratitude to the central government for allocating Shs.38 billion to support the Kingdom’s programmes.
The unveiling of the budget marked the start of the 2026/27 financial year, with Kingdom leaders calling on all Baganda to remain united and support efforts aimed at achieving sustainable development while preserving Buganda’s rich cultural heritage.
