Brig. Gen. John Bosco Asingura Appointed Deputy Commander of Special Forces Command

Brigadier General John Bosco Asingura has reportedly been appointed Deputy Commander of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Special Forces Command (SFC), in a new responsibility within the country’s elite military unit.

Asingura, who holds the rank of Brigadier General, now takes on the role of Deputy Commander at the Special Forces Command, a formation within the UPDF tasked with specialised military and security operations.

The development adds to Asingura’s career in the UPDF, where he has served in various capacities over the years. His elevation to the new position comes as the military continues to place experienced senior officers in key command positions.

The appointment is expected to see Asingura work closely with the SFC leadership in overseeing the command’s operations and responsibilities.

The Special Forces Command is one of the UPDF’s specialised formations and has played a prominent role in security and military operations in Uganda.

The announcement has already attracted congratulatory messages, with supporters describing the appointment as recognition of Asingura’s service and experience in the military.

However, details on the official appointment, including when he will formally assume the position and the identity of the outgoing deputy commander, were not immediately available in the social media post.
