As the country holds its breath, watching closely every move made by the investigative team, TV10 Gano Mazima has obtained exclusive information that the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) has reopened the investigation into the July 11, 2010, twin bombings in Kampala.
The Verification of Alleged Links
According to sources, the CMI is seeking to verify a possible connection between jailed former police boss, Senior Superintendent of Police Nixon Agasiirwe, and the would-be Al-Shabaab-linked terrorists.
The 2010 Kampala Bombings
The bombings, carried out by Al-Shabaab in response to Uganda’s UPDF involvement in the peacekeeping mission in Somalia, occurred at the Kyadondo Rugby Club and Ethiopian Village in Kansanga. The attacks claimed the lives of 74 people and injured over 85 others during the 2010 FIFA World Cup final.
New Evidence in 2010 Bombing Case
It’s alleged that after the murder of senior state prosecutor Joan Kagezi, who was pursuing the bombing suspects, the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) has focused on gathering damning evidence that links Nixon Agasiirwe to the 2010 bomb incident.
Key Evidence in 2010 Bombing Case
One of the leads investigators are following is that the car allegedly used to transport the bombing materials, a Toyota Hilux Single Cabin with registration number UAP 671P, was found to belong to Nixon after being impounded by investigators in Namasuba, Kampala.
Vehicle Tracking in 2010 Bombing Investigation
At the time, the Hilux vehicle had recorded a mileage of 60,000 kilo meters. Additionally, another vehicle, a Land Cruiser, allegedly belonging to Nixon, was tracked to a hideout in Makindye but later disappeared. It was later spotted again in the Busia area.
Vehicle Tracking Across Borders
It’s alleged that the same vehicle was later spotted in Bungoma, Kenya, a known hub for stolen car rackets and a place where vehicles often disappear.
FBI Implication of Nixon
In the wake of the 2010 bombings, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) implicated Nixon for having links with Al-Shabaab terrorists, both before and after the attacks.

These new revelations now put Nixon and his colleagues at the center of an investigation that could finally bring the 2010 bombings file to total closure.
