Young King Muwenda Mutebi II: A Glimpse into His Early Days

Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II is the 36th king of the Buganda Kingdom in Uganda, born on April 13, 1955. He’s the son of Kabaka Mutesa II and Nabakyala Sarah Nalule. Here are some key facts about him:

  • Reign: Kabaka Mutebi II was proclaimed king on July 24, 1993, and crowned on July 31, 1993, at Buddo. He’s known for preserving Buganda’s culture while embracing modernity.
  • Family: He’s married to Sylvia Nagginda, the Nnabagereka, and has children, including Prince Juunju Suuna, Princess Joan Nassolo, Princess Victoria Nkinzi, Princess Katrina Sarah Kirabo, and Prince Richard Ssemakookiro.
  • Legacy: He’s celebrated his 70th birthday and has been instrumental in promoting Buganda’s cultural heritage and development initiatives, such as the Kabaka Birthday Run, which aims to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS.
