The Chairperson of Parliament’s Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE), Hon. Muwada Nkunyingi, has ordered the arrest and production of Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) Chairperson Mariam Wangadya before Parliament.
According to the information shared in the post, Wangadya is expected to appear before the committee at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow after reportedly failing to provide satisfactory explanations for the absence of the committee’s proceedings.
The development comes amid scrutiny of the UHRC and its accountability to Parliament. The committee is seeking clarity on the missing proceedings and wants the commission’s leadership to explain the circumstances surrounding their absence.
The order to have Wangadya arrested and brought before Parliament signals a tougher approach by COSASE as it continues to demand accountability from government institutions.
Wangadya is expected to appear before the committee and respond to the concerns raised over the missing documents.
