In a significant development, the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has finalized a formal agreement with the leadership of Katabi Town Council to utilize their dumpsite at Nkumba on a temporary basis. This arrangement marks a crucial step towards addressing the city’s waste management challenges as KCCA works towards implementing medium and long-term strategies for a circular economy.
The decision follows a feasibility study conducted by a team of engineers and technical personnel, which deemed the previously proposed temporary site at Menvu, Busukuma Subcounty, Nansana Municipality unsuitable due to its swampy and soggy terrain, among other limitations.
KCCA has expressed gratitude to the Chairman of Katabi Town Council, Kalema Ronald, the leadership of Entebbe Municipality, and the local community for their cooperation and hospitality.
