President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Tuesday appointed Arthur Mugyenyi as the new Director General of the Internal Security Organization (ISO) with immediate effect.
The relatively unknown Arthur Mugyenyi fills the position following the untimely death of Brigadier General Charles Oluka earlier this year.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Tony Kinyera Apecu as the new Deputy Director General of the Internal Security Organisation (ISO).
He replaces Col. Emmy Katabazi, who has been appointed as Deputy Ambassador and will be posted to a foreign mission pending further assignment by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Arthur Mugyenyi, hailing from Kiruhura, boasts a rich career in the intelligence service. He began his work as a District Intelligence Officer at various postings across the country, accumulating valuable experience and expertise in the field.

Arthur Mugyenyi has an impressive background in intelligence services. Between 2001-2006, he served as District Operations Intelligence Boss in Kabala, Mbarara, and Kisoro. His experience expanded as he took on roles such as:
ISO Liaison Officer/Intelligence Coordinator: Posted to Parliament, where he coordinated intelligence efforts.
Director of Political Affairs at ISO: Appointed in 2017, overseeing political intelligence and analysis.
Mugyenyi’s extensive experience in intelligence gathering and analysis prepared him for his recent appointment as Director General of ISO.
The Internal Security Organization (ISO) is Uganda’s counterintelligence agency, providing national security intelligence to policymakers. Established in 1986, it took over Military Intelligence duties and is headquartered in Nakasero, Kampala.
ISO’s main function is to ensure state stability by monitoring key government programs and collecting intelligence on potential threats.
