A year of uncertainty surrounding National Unity Platform (NUP) supporter Amos Rwangomani has come to an end after he resurfaced in Luzira Upper Prison, where he is currently on remand following his appearance before a military court.
The development was revealed by NUP Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya, who said party officials discovered Rwangomani during a visit to Luzira Upper Prison to check on detained colleagues.
According to Rubongoya, Rwangomani disclosed that he had been held at Kasenyi before being presented in court. He also claimed he was detained alongside King Zale, Sam Mugumya, and Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, who was also previously reported missing before later resurfacing.
While welcoming Rwangomani’s reappearance, Rubongoya expressed concern that several other NUP supporters, including Sam Mugumya and King Zale, are still allegedly being held incommunicado. He called on authorities to release them or disclose their whereabouts.
The revelation is expected to renew public debate over the disappearance of opposition supporters and calls for greater transparency and respect for due process in Uganda.
