Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim will face some of Africa’s top women’s football clubs after securing a place in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League, scheduled to take place in Egypt from November 1 to 15.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed Egypt as the venue for the tournament, which will feature eight clubs competing for the continental title.
The North African country will host the competition for the second year in a row and the third time overall, having also staged the inaugural edition in 2021.
Morocco’s AS FAR, who lifted the trophy last year, will return to defend their title as they seek to maintain their dominance in the competition.
Six teams have so far secured qualification, with Kawempe Muslim carrying Uganda’s hopes alongside South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, Cameroon’s Lekie FF, Mali’s USFAS and Moroccan sides FUS Rabat and AS FAR.
The final line-up will be completed by the winner of the WAFU Zone B qualifying competition and Egypt’s representative, who will enter as the host nation’s club.
For Kawempe Muslim, the tournament offers an opportunity to test themselves against established sides from across the continent and strengthen Uganda’s presence in women’s club football.
With the competition drawing closer, the remaining qualification places will determine the full list of participating teams ahead of the November championship.
