Former Parliament Director of Communications Chris Obore has been granted Shs30 million cash bail by court as he faces charges alongside several co-accused persons.
As part of the bail conditions, court ordered Obore to surrender his Kiwanuka, Mukono land title and passport, restricting his ability to travel while the case proceeds.
His sureties were also required to provide non-cash bonds worth Shs300 million.
Court further granted bail to all of Obore’s co-accused after considering their applications and the conditions they presented.
The court warned the accused that failure to comply with the bail conditions could have serious consequences, including the possibility of property presented as security being forfeited to the state.
Obore, who previously served as Parliament’s Director of Communications, is expected to return to court as proceedings in the case continue.
The bail decision allows him and his co-accused to remain out of custody as they prepare to respond to the charges against them.
The case has attracted public attention given Obore’s former senior position in Parliament and the allegations surrounding the group.
