The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) has assured the public that the country is not facing an immediate fuel shortage, despite rising pump prices being reported at different fuel stations.
According to a statement shared by the Government of Uganda, UNOC said it has sufficient fuel stocks to maintain supply and meet the country’s immediate demand.
The company indicated that its current reserves cover up to 70 days for petrol, 57 days for diesel and 85 days for Jet A1, providing a buffer against possible disruptions in supply.

The assurance comes amid growing concern among motorists and businesses over increasing fuel prices, which have raised the cost of transport and contributed to higher operating expenses.
UNOC’s position is intended to calm fears of a possible fuel crisis, with the company maintaining that the increase in pump prices should not be interpreted as an indication that Uganda is running out of fuel.
The availability of substantial stocks of petrol, diesel and aviation fuel is also expected to support continued operations in the transport and aviation sectors while authorities monitor developments in the fuel market.
However, motorists are likely to continue watching pump prices closely, particularly as higher fuel costs can have a wider impact on the prices of goods and services across the country.
