Uganda’s Parliament Seeks Additional Shs78.7 Billion for Cars, Office Furniture, and New Chamber

Uganda’s Parliamentary Commission is seeking an additional Shs78.694 billion on top of the already allocated Shs833.495 billion for next year’s budget.

This extra funding is intended to cover various expenses, including the purchase of cars for top political leaders, office furniture, and payments to the contractor building the new Parliamentary Chambers.

Here’s a breakdown of how the additional funds will be allocated:

– Shs27.946 billion: will go towards the ongoing construction of the new Parliamentary Chamber.

– Shs25.8 billion: will be used to acquire light vehicles for political offices and 28-seater vans for pool transport, mainly for Committee oversight activities.

– Shs10.769 billion: will be allocated for the acquisition of office equipment.

– Shs10 billion: will cover the architectural design of the office block on Parliamentary Avenue.

The Parliamentary Commission has also requested an additional Shs12.12 billion for the acquisition of ICT hardware infrastructure and the e-Parliament Project. Furthermore, the Commission is seeking Shs125 billion for salaries, travel costs, and other operational expenses
