Events promoter Norbert Twizire, popularly known as Nobat Events, has been remanded to Luzira Prison over allegations surrounding the management of funds belonging to the Kampala and Beyond United Music Promoters SACCO.
Nobat appeared before the Makindye Magistrates Court on Monday, October 5, 2026, alongside fellow promoter Mujabi Twaha, as investigations into the alleged financial mismanagement continued.
According to reports, the two are accused of misappropriating approximately Shs1 billion in government funds that had been allocated to the promoters’ SACCO, together with about Shs31.9 million in members’ savings.
The government funds formed part of a wider Shs10 billion financial package released to three music promoters’ SACCOs through the Microfinance Support Centre. The funding was intended to provide affordable financing to promoters and help them expand their businesses and create employment opportunities in Uganda’s entertainment industry.

The Kampala and Beyond United Music Promoters SACCO was among the three beneficiary organisations, alongside the National Events and Bivulu Promoters SACCO and the Uganda Music Promoters SACCO.
The allegations against Nobat and Twaha have now placed renewed attention on how the government funding and members’ contributions were being managed.
Nobat was subsequently remanded to Luzira Prison until October 26, 2026, when he is expected to return to court for the next stage of the proceedings.
The case comes amid longstanding divisions among music promoters over the organisation and management of their SACCOs. Earlier reports indicated that disagreements among promoters contributed to the creation of three separate SACCOs before the government eventually distributed its Shs10 billion pledge among them.
There was also drama at the court premises during the proceedings, with reports indicating that Nobat became involved in a heated confrontation with another promoter over the SACCO funds before police intervened.
