War hero and minister of Internal Affairs , Maj Gen (RTD) Kahinda Otafiire, has branded Gender, labor and social welfare minister and current Oyam South MP Hon. Betty Amongi , as an emerging political ‘bufoon’ .
” Service is service whether you’re DP , UPC NRM or any other political party, a medical facility is a medical facility. Don’t vote for my party , don’t vote for my clan, vote for my services. My sister Amongi, UPC, you have your constituency, if you have been giving milk, why are you running away ? Go back and tell your constituents what you did for them so that they can approve your coming here. Don’t bring your failure to Lira City. Why are you run Ng away, what are you running from ? ” barked Otafiire.
As the mammoth pro-Acheng crowd , kept on cheering in approval, Otafiire , added that ” Jane is one of the most brilliant contributors in cabinet. She makes me proud even when she is contardictingbmy views. I listen and say but what Acheng says makes a lot of sense . She more often than not makes me abandon my consertive and outdated ideas. She’s one of the few people that contribute positively to cause development”.
Otafiire, made the remarks over the weekend whilst officiating at the Lira United Motorcycle Association (LUMBA) dubbed ”Lira City Boda Boda festival” , organised by the Minister of Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng , who is also the sitting area MP.
This is after hon. Amongi, declared her intension to contest for the Lira City Woman MP seat in the 2026 general election , a clear indication that she has officially declared war on Aceng .
It should be noted the Amongi, is married to Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) president Hon. Jimmy Akena , the Lira City MP , who boasts his father Dr. Apollo Milton Obote’s rich political legacy in the area .
At the recent Gen. Caleb Akandwanaho, 65th birthday fete held in Gulu, Hon .Acheng, was one of the most prominent leaders from the Lango region , who kept The power cocoon that attended , nodding that she needs another electrol mandate.
With the blessing of Gen. Otafiire, it is now confirmed that Dr. Ruth Acheng , will but certainly take the NRMO card and contest for reelection.
