Police Probe into Student’s Mysterious Death Hits Dead End

By TV10 Investigative Desk

The investigation into the death of Elishama Ssesaazi, a 16-year-old senior three student at Seeta High School, has hit a roadblock due to a lack of witness statements. Despite opening a case file (SD 04/21/02/2025) at Mukono police station, police have been unable to obtain statements from key witnesses, including students, teachers, and school administrators.

The case took a surprising turn when investigators alleged that they were instructed by State Minister for Higher Education John Chrysostom Muyingo to collect the body and leave the school premises.

Muyingo assured parliament that police investigations into student deaths were ongoing, but the crime scene remains sealed off as forensic experts examine evidence.

Photographs from the scene have raised suspicions, with Ssesaazi’s body found in a posture suggesting a possible struggle. Conflicting accounts and inconsistencies in the investigation have further fueled doubts.

The school administration’s claim that Ssesaazi hanged himself using a mosquito net has been questioned by his family, who point out that the triple-decker bed had limited space between the decks, making it difficult for Ssesaazi to hang himself.

Ssesaazi’s family remains unconvinced by the suicide narrative, questioning why the school administration denied them access to the body and why the investigation is being handled by Mukono police instead of Seeta Police. The family’s concerns have been echoed by the public, who are demanding answers about the circumstances surrounding Ssesaazi’s death.

The investigation is ongoing, but without witness statements, it cannot proceed. The case file remains incomplete, and the school administration’s lack of explanation for the inconsistencies has only added to the mystery
