Uganda Boosts Air Power with New L-410 Aircraft for UPDF Missions

Uganda has strengthened its air mobility and logistics capabilities after commissioning a new Let L-410 aircraft into the UPDF Air Force.

The versatile aircraft will support a range of operations, including transporting troops and cargo, medical evacuations, VIP travel, and paratrooper missions. Its addition is expected to improve the UPDF’s ability to respond quickly to operational and emergency needs.

During the commissioning ceremony, Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba highlighted the importance of taking good care of the new aircraft through proper maintenance to ensure it serves the country effectively for many years.

He also thanked OMNIPOL for delivering the aircraft two months ahead of schedule, describing the timely delivery as a positive contribution to strengthening Uganda’s defence capabilities.

The new L-410 represents another step in Uganda’s efforts to modernize its air force and improve the movement of personnel, equipment, and support services across the country and beyond.
