The maternity ward, which was gutted by fire in June 2024, has since been rehabilitated with support from organizations like Rotary Snow Peaks and Medicins Sans Frontiers.
The Ministry of Health’s decision to upgrade the health center to a hospital is a welcome move, as it will likely address the existing healthcare gaps in the region. However, it’s worth noting that the health center has been struggling with inadequate space and infrastructure, which will need to be addressed to ensure the hospital can operate effectively.
