Concerns Mount Over Police Response to Gun Violence in Kampala.

Gun violence has once again reared its ugly head in Kampala, Uganda, with a string of high-profile killings rocking the city. Notable figures such as Major Kigundu, Kaweesi, Kirumira, and Abiriga have been among the victims, all targeted and killed by armed men on boda boda motorcycles.

The most recent incident involved the brutal murder of Ndiga clan leader Daniel Bbosa, who was shot dead while inside his car near his home in Kampala. The police spokesperson confirmed that two suspects believed to have carried out the attack were lynched by a mob. One of the assailants were chased down and killed, with their gun and motorcycle recovered at the scene. The motive behind Bbosa’s murder remains unclear.

This tragic event is part of a disturbing trend of increasing gun-related murders in the city, with the Kampala metropolitan South region, where Bbosa was killed, reporting the highest number of shootings. These senseless killings have raised questions about the effectiveness of Uganda’s law enforcement, particularly in light of concerns about police involvement in criminal activities.

In contrast to other concerns mount over Police response to gun violence in Kampala where thorough investigations, including autopsies, are conducted in cases of violent crimes, Uganda appears to be falling short in its pursuit of justice. There have been alarming reports of police negligence, with officers failing to carry the necessary identification documents and allowing criminals to move freely with guns.

The lack of accountability and transparency within the Ugandan police force has led to speculation about possible collusions with murderers and thieves. The recent spate of gun violence underscores the urgent need for the authorities to improve security measures and restore public trust in law enforcement. Failure to address these issues could result in further bloodshed and instability in Kampala.

My worry remains … Where do these CRIMINALS get guns from🥺.. is it from the security in Uganda… Black market which these guys can’t STOP…how about the tracing of the guns .. do they know and they remain silent .. no one can tell … But this should stop if the police wants to buy trust .. thanks for the news … #Haki
