Bobi Wine Launches Investigation into NUP Sexual Harassment and Electoral Malpractice Allegations

By Gano Mazima Investigative File

In response to widespread public outcry, National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi has announced the establishment of an investigative team to probe allegations of impunity, corruption, and sexual harassment within the party.

Taking Action

The move comes amid growing concerns over the party’s internal governance and the need to address allegations of misconduct. Kyagulanyi has assured that the investigation will be thorough and transparent, with those found guilty facing disciplinary action.

Restoring Public Trust

The investigative team will work to uncover the truth behind the allegations and ensure that the party’s values of integrity and accountability are upheld. By taking swift and decisive action, Kyagulanyi aims to restore public trust and demonstrate the party’s commitment to good governance.

National Unity Platform

NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has established a committee to investigate allegations of sexual harassment and electoral malpractice within the party.

The move comes after several party members were implicated in the scandal, including Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu, Bobi Wine’s brother.

Addressing the Nation

In a press conference today, Bobi Wine addressed the nation on several pressing issues affecting the country and the party.

He expressed concern over media reports implicating elements within Uganda’s security forces, including senior army commanders, in orchestrating fake bomb threats and acts of terrorism, particularly in the greater Kampala area.

Security Forces Under Fire

Bobi Wine reiterated the party’s long-held position that the regime fabricates or exaggerates such incidents to justify its violent repression of opposition supporters.

He highlighted the plight of party members languishing in prisons on trumped-up charges of terrorism and illegal possession of firearms.

Accountability and Transparency

The NUP leader also addressed troubling allegations suggesting attempts by some leaders to manipulate the ongoing vetting and harmonization process being conducted by the party’s Elections Management Committee.

To address these concerns, the party has instituted an independent inquiry led by Deputy President H.E. Jolly Tukamushaba to thoroughly investigate the claims and recommend action where necessary.

Call for Information

The party encourages all concerned citizens and members with relevant information to present it to the Committee for appropriate redress.

Bobi Wine emphasized the party’s commitment to accountability and transparency, vowing that anyone found guilty of misconduct will face disciplinary action.
