Ministers Demand Arrest of Bulambuli Officials Over Missing Bridge Project

Local Government ministers Balaam Barugahara and Justine Nameere have demanded the arrest of four officials in Bulambuli District over the alleged misuse of UGX 500 million that was allocated for the construction of a bridge.

The ministers accused the road contractor, town engineer, town clerk, and internal auditor of failing to deliver the project despite the funds reportedly being released. During an inspection of the site, they were shocked to find no bridge under construction—only piles of soil where the structure was supposed to stand.

Expressing frustration, the ministers said public money must be used responsibly and warned that anyone found to have mismanaged government funds should be held accountable. They called for swift investigations and legal action against those responsible if the allegations are confirmed.

The unfinished project has left residents without the bridge they had hoped would improve transport and ease access to essential services.
