An American Airlines flight, AA1006, from Colorado Springs to Dallas Fort Worth, made an emergency landing at Denver International Airport on Thursday after the crew reported engine vibrations. The Boeing 737-800 aircraft, carrying 172 passengers and six crew members, landed safely around 5:15 p.m. However, while taxiing to the gate, one of the engines caught fire, prompting passengers to evacuate quickly using the slides.
Fortunately, all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated, with 12 people taken to hospitals with minor injuries. The fire was put out by firefighters, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into the incident.
The cause of the engine fire is still unclear, but American Airlines described it as an “engine-related issue”. The incident has raised concerns about aviation safety, but authorities emphasize that flying remains a very safe mode of transport.
