Nsereko Takes the Leap: Independent Candidacy in Kawempe North

Moses Nsereko’s journey to the Kawempe North constituency by-election has been quite the rollercoaster. Initially, he sought the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket, but unfortunately, he didn’t secure it, losing to lawyer Erias Nalukoola with a disappointing 14.2% of the vote.

Despite this setback, Nsereko has bounced back as an independent candidate, with his nomination confirmed by Electoral Commission officials. His focus remains on uplifting the well-being of underprivileged people in Kawempe North, particularly emphasizing job creation in informal settlements.

Interestingly, Nsereko’s symbol on the ballot is a chair, which has certainly generated some buzz. He’ll be facing stiff competition from other candidates, including NUP’s Erias Nalukoola and NRM’s Faridah Nambi. The by-election is scheduled for March 13, and it’ll be fascinating to see how Nsereko’s independent campaign fares.
