Kalemeera, the son of Ssekabaka Chwa Nabakka, took advantage of Winyi’s hospitality and fathered Prince Kimera Walusimbi with Lady Wannyana, Winyi’s chief wife. This illicit affair would eventually shape the course of Bugandan history, as Prince Kimera Walusimbi went on to become the third Kabaka of Buganda.
Winyi’s legacy extends beyond his association with Kalemeera and Kimera. He is also remembered as the founder of the Ababiito b’eKibulala clan, one of the 54 recognized clans of the Baganda people. Today, his burial site at Kibulala, Ssingo, is recognized as a Buganda Cultural Site, with Naalinnya Dina Kigga Mukarukidi serving as the cultural supervisor.
Prince Winyi of Kibulala, also known as Winyi I, Omukama of Bunyoro-Kitara, was a significant figure in Ugandan history. He married Lady Wannyana, his chief wife and sister of Balitema Kajubi, Chief of Busujju, a Muhima. Together, they had two children: Princess Musenyu, the eldest child and Chiefess of Kyeeya, and Prince Ntembe, Chief of Busoga.

Winyi passed away in the mid-14th century and is buried at Kibulala, Ssingo, in modern-day Kiboga District. His burial site is recognized by the Buganda Royal Family as a Buganda Cultural Site, with Naalinnya Dina Kigga Mukarukidi, the sister of the reigning Buganda Monarch, Muwenda Mutebi II, serving as the cultural supervisor.
