Kieni MP Njoroge Wainaina Stands By Finance Bill Vote Despite Millions In Losses.

Nyeri, Kenya – Kieni Member of Parliament Njoroge Wainaina has expressed no regrets over his decision to vote in favor of the Finance Bill 2024, despite suffering significant losses in the recent anti-Finance Bill protests.

On Tuesday, protesters targeted the MP’s supermarket in Kieni, looting and setting it ablaze, resulting in losses estimated at over Kes.550 million. The destruction included stock worth Kes.450 million and equipment valued at Kes.100 million.

Despite the devastating impact on his business and employees, Wainaina remains steadfast in his support for the Finance Bill. He believes the legislation would have benefited his constituents, particularly farmers in the agricultural zone, by reducing competition from outside the country.

The MP alleged that the vandalism and looting were orchestrated by “goons posing as peaceful protesters.” His stance has sparked debate on the balance between political convictions and personal interests.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
