In a move to make things clearer and help consumers make smarter choices, the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has released its latest price comparison report for mobile and fixed internet bundles.
This new report, published in June, takes a close look at some of the most commonly used internet bundles—those with daily, weekly, and monthly validity, as well as non-expiry and unlimited fixed internet options. UCC says these are the types of packages most Ugandans buy, so it made sense to focus on them.
According to Hon. Nyombi Thembo, Executive Director of UCC, the goal is to give consumers clear, easy-to-understand information about what different telecom companies are offering.
“As part of our mandate to promote and protect the interests of consumers, we’ve published this comparative mobile and fixed price schedule to support transparency and improve consumer awareness,” he explained.
The report isn’t just about numbers—it’s about helping people find internet bundles that match their needs and budget. Whether you’re a student trying to stretch your MBs, a business owner relying on fast, reliable internet, or a casual user checking WhatsApp and YouTube, this guide aims to help you get the most value for your money.
UCC hopes the report will also push service providers to offer better, more competitive pricing, creating a healthier market overall. By making pricing structures easier to understand, consumers can make side-by-side comparisons and choose what truly works best for them.
“The Commission continues to monitor price trends and will keep updating the comparisons to ensure consumers stay informed and providers remain fair and competitive,” Thembo added.
This effort is part of a larger plan by UCC to build a more transparent, fair, and user-friendly communications environment in Uganda. It’s also a step toward ensuring that all Ugandans have access to quality internet services—no matter where they live or what their budget is.
