Napoleon’s escape from exile on the island of Elba on February 26, 1815, marked the beginning of his ambitious attempt to regain power in France. After fleeing Elba, he landed at Golfe-Juan, between Cannes and Antibes, with a small group of loyal followers. As he marched towards Paris, his popularity and support grew, and he was eventually able to retake the city on March 20, 1815.
This period, known as the Hundred Days, was marked by a series of military campaigns and political maneuvers as Napoleon sought to consolidate his power and defend France against the opposing European powers. However, his efforts ultimately ended in defeat at the Battle of Waterloo on June 18, 1815, leading to his final exile on the island of Saint Helena, where he died in 1821.
